Mental Heath & Crisis Resources
Studies show that LGBTQ+ adults and youth face an extraordinarily elevated risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior. The ostracism and discrimination that LGBTQ+ persons encounter in church and religious settings can often reinforce and perpetuate the negative thought patterns that lead to self-harm.
In 2019, nearly 40 states in the US have introduced legislation to ban conversion therapy and 16 states have existing conversion therapy bans. The American Psychiatric Association has concluded that “no credible evidence exists that any mental health intervention can reliably and safely change sexual orientation” and that ultimately conversion therapy is a discredited and harmful practice.
If you are experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, we want you to get the help you need. We encourage you to immediately seek help from a friend, partner, or qualified health worker. After you seek help from a friend, partner, or qualified health worker, we recommend that you connect with any of the following service providers.
